Let a mechanic (if you can't handle the job) take off the rocker cover and clean whatever you can see, I don't see another proper method of removing that from the head. Do it asap so the oil ports won't clog up.

Its not that hard.
Ted_v2 wrote:Not sure about the seals.
It should be able to just reinstall after. If the seals are hard however it might leak.
A good wire pick should remove it easily but if it goes down it can cause more harm than good.
U have a 4g18 not so?

Stark Auto Rentals wrote:Hi Guys,
I'm having a problem with a CS3 lancer (4g18 engine) and I need some help. Currently, if you go down on the accelerator pedal, the engine revs up fine, but the car just seems to accelerate really slowly. On the highway, I can't seem to reach over 110km/h even though the engine is running at 6000rpm. The mechanic serviced the car, changed plugs, fluids, etc. He's telling me that I need to replace the IACV, but I'm a bit curious, since the vehicle idles well to me. Any thoughts on this? I'm inclined to think that this is more a transmission problem.
