Change the oil in the transmission. ASAP.
Do a flush as well. The CVT transmission is not chain driven. Rather, it is driven by a belt.
When the car stops moving completely and there are no outputs or responses to gear changes/inputs, that's the when the belt has snapped. You usually hear the snap while driving to indicate that the belt has burst.
