Super in gdi engines

Postby diamonds are forever » October 1st, 2012, 5:32 pm

Hey guys just want some of the feedback anybody has with the drawbacks of using super gas in cars with gdi engines like the lancer and the galant. Premium has gone up now so I was wondering if it is worth the risk using super. Can anybody please give me the long term effects or drawbacks with that fuel as opposed to premium quality gas?

Well I for one am stuck with premium for my GDI. I started using super when first bought my CS2 Lancer (ignoring the premium recommendation) and my engine would have bad 'gas pinging' sounds. Switching back to premium solved the problem.

There are additives you can throw with Super in that bumps up the octane levels.
Please read the back of the bottles and confirm before you purchase.
You looking for increases of anything over 1 RON.

One question though, when you tried Super..can you remember which Gas Station you tried?

I filled Super in my GDi VRG Galant (1.8 litre, 4G93 Engine) 3 days ago and it seems to be running okay so far. I'll keep you guys posted on future developments...

btw: The gas tank cover has the 95+ Octane sticker on it
