lancer cedia engine and tranny solution

Postby jwf iles » August 18th, 2007, 8:37 pm

Good day all

I've recently joined your elite group and require some advice from all the lancer gurus out there.
I have a 2001 lancer cedia awd, engine type 4G15. It started to give me some transmission problems dis yr. my mechanic tried 2 fix it but it was to no avail. Part of the draft shaft was taken out so i would be a fwd.
I have heard dat the cedias have alot of engine and transmission problems. the advice the mechanic gave me was to replace my engine and tranny with the engine and tranny from d model before mines. Cost would be around 15K because of d conversion of parts and re-wiring. :? I got a second opinion telling me 2 buy a front cut with everything and I might come out cheaper and it would take less time to mount up. My take on it is if i have to go with any1 of those options can I get the lancer GLX model front cut or engine and tranny and use it? What about a bigger engine, with a normal tranny? I need more options or what is better solution?

best cost effective solution - drop in a 4G18 (1.6L GLX) engine

it can work with your existing tranny as teh CS2 (Cedia) and the CS3 (LAncer GLX) us ethe same F101A CVT tranny

get teh harness and the ECU too

no re-wiring and adjustments for it to fit.

the other bigger engine that will fit in bolt for bolt is teh 4G93, but that is a GDI engine

check Auto Stock Co Ltd 659-4214

he has several CS front cuts, couple sure to be GLX's so you can get teh enigne

Tanks senior!

Would the GLX lancer CVT line up in the car as well or it would need some mods?
Would we be able to replace the throttle body as well?

does the 4G93 give trouble? It being GDi and all. Also, the awd tranny i have, if I wanted to replace it wit a normal 4 speed, would dat make sense? In terms of maintenance and life expectancy wise.

I also have another problem. the ABS light is on but I am getting brakes like normal except for the stuttering you get when the ABS functioning normally. Sum1 told me I have to clean d sensors. I don't even now where they are or who 2 check to fix it. Do you have any suggestions? Is a car with complications.
But I am a die hard lancer fan. I just want to avoid selling it. Well, maybe 4 atleast 2 more yrs. and after dat is 2 get another 1. :)

yeah! they come in AWD. I feel I know what u thinking but it will still take alot of work to put in an evo engine and brakes. Parts are 2 small.

I think they don't have many of them around because I couldn't find a good working tranny or even parts 4 1 down here.

I need 2 find out where and what would be d cost of a reasonable GLX front cuts 4 when I go pricing.

I was also looking at some of the previous posts and saw dat wiring up 4 a digital a/c would be problems.

I have the dash with the round knobs not the sliths (don't know what 2 call dem :?). Are those digital or is there another type?
And if dey are the knobs what would I have to do with the wiring to get them functioning as normal?

Yeah fellas,

Here is a pic of my dashboard with the knobs. Are they digital or is there another type? And how would they be re-wired when I changed the engine and tranny?
