DX 109 Corolla wagon engine advice 4 wheel drive

I have a dx 109 wagon 4 wheel drive
The vehicle over heat so I believe head might need to change when I check the price of a head and block in bamboo the saying $5000
As it's a 4 wheel drive
Any ideas is the 2 wheel head and block could work ??
