Firstly, I looked around the forums and did not get any answers so apologies if this was dealt with already and I missed it.

I am looking to buy a local used Hilux, I have a couple options ranging from 2010 to 2014...all 3.0l. It will be for the most part a utility vehicle, carrying construction related tools and materials, plus I have a somewhat aggressive driving style. I am one of those who do not think pickups should be automatic, but at this point I wont pass on a good deal. So I want to know, how strong are the Hilux transmissions... how will it last given how I will use it, heavy loads.... and when It is empty I will be using that tiptronic a lot and I tend to accelerate quickly.. !!! Any advice/opinions will be greatly appreciated!!

Might want to invest in an auxiliary transmission cooler as cheap insurance.

On another note.... As much as I like a manual transmission. ... traffic is only getting worse and people not getting younger. ..

I hear the disc pads fall out when they get low sometimes and look out for shimming.

find out if turbo was abused or run with plenty soot/bad fuel

the electronic actuator vanes can be clogged/seized with soot and cause turbo failure along with the
motor controller that moves them.
