Car: AE101 BZ Touring Wagon

Problem:

The fuel filter has been changed and i am now gettin a gas fumes smell only while i drive or when the xcable is being engaged

i checked back the fuel filter to ensure that there are no leaks and there are also no signs on gas liquid leaking anywhere. No where under the car or in the engine bay. I dont know why i am getting the gas fumes smell, but i wud say this

Prior to the filter change, no gas smell. And the O2 sensor hasnt been working for years

PLEASE HELP ME. The fumes smell is driving me crazy

I was told that i must have a leak in the gas line somewhere but as i said. No sign of fluid leaking anywhere

Maybe the filter has a "micro leak"……….a crack or porous area that manifest itself only when under pressure. Now, when you are driving the system is under greater pressure. Then too, because of the engine bay temperature, lower atmospheric pressure, and air streaming in the engine bay, the small amount of gasoline leaking will evaporate quickly.
The fumes will be carried in the air, which will migrate into the cabin.
Because old hoses have been disturbed in fitting the filter, you could have cracks or they became porous. Too, the clamps may not have been tightened enough.
As a first test, start the car with the bonnet open (Park and parking brake engaged) and get someone to rev the engine holding the speed. Observe the areas you interfered with. Maybe you may find some seepage.
Peace.

Tried that. the car is manual
Reving the car while idle
But i am seriously thinking about changing the old hoses
the steel line for the gas under the car shows no signs of leak
and also i cud buy another brand of fuel filter
dont know which would be best in terms of brand
I will let you know how it goes though
Thanks

yea. found the leak
its coming from the fuel tank
where the pump is
the gaskit got dried and hard so it isnt sealing the tank properly

Unfortunately no one here has it so had to source it on ebay
