hi tuners, I need some advice. After coming down the highway my Toyota ALTIS just cut off. After getting it re-started there was a horrible noise coming from the engine. A mech. told me to change the entire engine. Complete engine change costing to much. Thinking about a transplant can anyone suggest a toyota engine that can work and is available locally?

Did you diagnose the exact source of the noise? try to get a second opinion on the exact problem before changing the engine. It could be simple as connecting rod bearings. However, if you need to do an engine change, the 1ZZ-FE works bolt for bolt, wire for wire. There is no need for transplant and the 1ZZ cost around 7 gran for a head and block as compare to the 3ZZ costing 12 gran.

I'll sell if I doing the transplant. The noise sounds like a really loud knocking the higher the rev the louder the noise. Not getting any power in reverse.
