LF information on Lexus RX SUV

Postby OSCAR » November 19th, 2013, 10:04 pm

Folks,

I am interested in a Lexus 2nd generation SUV, the RX 300/330 model. I like to gather the following information:

1. Is there any defect with this model?
2. What are usually maintenance issue?
3. Is the 2wd better than 4wd?
4. Could it work on Super gasoline?
5. What would be average price for 2005/ 2006 model ?
6. Where can parts be sourced?

Any information pertaining to the above or otherwise would be appreciated.

Let me see if I can be of some help:

1. Defect : These are bullet proof, and built better than the newer models. The only defect I can think about is the fact (similar to the Prado) that the dash eventually gets hairline crack and has to be be changed eventually. I had mine replaced with an updated oem part.
2. Maintenance is the same as with any other Toyota SUV. Minimal maintenance.
3. I believe the 2wd drive comes in the Harrier (foreign used - 2.4 l 4 cylinder). The local Lexus RX (6 cylinder) comes awd. Handling/stability in the 2wd will not be as good as the awd, the trade off is better fuel economy but less horse power.
4. The older Lexus have been using super. The newer ones I'm not sure.
5. Valuation on my 05 local Lexus RX was $270. Market price around $200. Foreign used would be a lot less.
6. Mechanical wise : They use the same toyota parts e.g. oil filter as the hilux, air filter from the camry. And are readily available from the dealership and online.

Hope this helps.
