Have been hearing a scraping noise when I hit the x, went to the mechanic, he told me it was the tensioner. Changed the part and I am still hearing the noise. What else could be the problem.

The problem is your mechanic.
Nobody could really figure out where the noise is coming from without listening to it themselves though, so you're gonna hafta do a little homework and inspect it yourself before your quackanic makes u pay to change more random parts.
Is it a metal-on-metal scraping noise? Is it belt squeal? Do you hear it at standstill as well or only when the car is moving? Are your engine oil and transmission fluid at proper levels?
If you only hear it when the car is moving, have someone inspect your brakes and wheel bearings.
Look for a wobbly pulley or tensioner, or any shield that may have come loose and is touching any rotating parts. Look for scarring/scrapes/scuffs near any rotating parts.
You can also listen out for the noise. The old school guys used to use a stethoscope or piece of hose to listen to specific areas on the engine for noises.
Determine if the noise is coming from the inside or outside of the engine. Listen around near the alternator or a/c compressor (still re-check the tensioner for good measure) in case it's a worn bearing causing it.
Don't be afraid to go poking around the engine bay. Doing the groundwork yourself can prevent you from getting a 6 for a 9. You already paid for a new tensioner that didn't solve your problem.

my sister had a similar issue and it was the alternator bearings

Yes the noise does change with the ac on. In fact the noise is distinct with the ac on.

then more than likely its the a/c compressor bearings
unless by scraping u mean a pinking noise then your car is suffering from preignition

If you exclusive rivet it when the car is running, acquire someone inspect your brakes and travel bearings. Unless by bowing u normal a pinking trouble then your car is suffering from precognition.
You can also focus out for the sound. The old down guys victimized to use a stethoscope or gun of irrigate to center to specific areas on the engine for noises.

Compressor bearings will make a constant noise. We have the compressor bearings in stock. Did you change your belt by chance?

Hey parts to go, the mechanic changed the tensioner and the fan belt, when i called him back to tell him that i am hearing a scraping noise he said it is probably the air conditioner. So i am wondering if he made me waste money to purchase a tensioner.
