great info in this thread

I really like the new NZE141 Fielders that are sold roro, but they are a bit out of my budget

I am considering Foreign used 1.8L 2007 Fielder as these fit my budget better

I am getting it for $75k doing ~85,000km

condition is really great and present owner claims that all maintenance was done on time

couple questions:

1. are these belt or chain engines?
2. super or premium?
3. what kind of mileage should I expect with the 1.8L with normal city and highway (max 120km\h) driving
4. currently has stock rims, but I want 17's - any issues :?:
5. single DIN deck, I want double DIN - any issues or is it a straightforward swap

this will be my first Toyota vehicle, but NOT my first car - I have maintained several Mitsubishi's previously, so I know my way around gas and diesel vehicles

all assistance is much appreciated

I have the 2008 model, however the stock deck as much as its a touch screen, its in Japanese, can anyone assist in the conversion to English? What do I have to do to get the Navigation up and running.

Ah realize a lot of questions go unanswered in this thread but I will still ask what's the best replacement for those Japanese touch screen decks the 08 comes with

I was looking at the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" Widescreen Touch Panel Display with Built-In Bluetooth. It's on Amazon for $480USD but Mike's on Henry street in P.O.S. has it for under $3000TTD. It's a really nice deck that will fit the double din opening on the dash. If you decide to change-out I'm interested in buying the Japanese one from you 'cus my car came without a deck and I'd like to install the original.

I don't know much about the 1.8 but I just got 506km from a tankful of Super on my 1.5, and that's up to when the gas light just came on.

Thanks south man, I'll pass by there tomorrow and check it out. Where did you go to change it and what method did they use, gravity or suction?

Where did you get the CVT fluid and gaskets to buy, did you also rinse out the filter? Is the car driving any different since the change?

Yeah I read somewhere it's 120, 000km. I went by chinee man Saturday but he didn't have the original Toyota cvt-tc. He tried to sell me a universal cvt fluid from Lube Gard for $125 a litre but I didn't bite, so the search is still on for genuine Toyota cvt tc.
