Resetting an ECU. Is it as simple as just removing power or do u have to get a diagnostic tool?

If it is OBD1, this is if your DLC is 22 pins removing power resets the ecu. If your vehicle is OBD2, that is the one with the 16 pin DLC, a diagnostic tool is needed. Removing power only stop the check light from lighting, but the codes are still stored in the ecu, which may cause problems as the ecu may still be in safe mode, depending upon what code is stored.
