33 hertz wrote:^ Agreed. First you need a good mech and electrician. You will need a complete engine, gearbox, harness, ecu, axels, you will also need to get a fuel pump, upgrade your fuel lines and you exhaust. You should also change your timing belt, acc. belts, fluids etc.
Are you converting from auto to manual? Talk to reddo 23 he did the conversion recently in his tercel.
the only things i would add to this is upgraded front rotors and the starlet instrument cluster.
make sure the engine comes with everything including the map sensor
This is how your planning should go:
(1) Budget cost of swap, purchase of all parts, mechanic fee, electrician fee, exhaust shop fee - pipe, fabrication, de-catting, flex pipe, barrel, labour, cost of replacing consumables, possible machine shop/ fabrication costs, guages, turbo timer, (boost controller if you want to switch boost levels).
(2) Source mechanic/electrician based on expertise with this swap...is a straightforward drop out-drop in but yuh eh want no learning curve with your car.
(3) Budget downtime based on mechanic estimate.
(4) Multiply estimated downtime x 3 to get actual downtime (trust me on this one)
