The Corolla DX Wagon Thread

the Corolla DX wagon is one of the most common stationwagons in the country, the stock setup is the 5EFE engine with the 3 speed tranny/ 5 fwd gearbox so what are tuners doing with them? I'm interested in everything, has anyone gone with the 4AGE 20 v swap? there is one with a 3SGTE in it that I know of, and of course some are boosting the 5E by lowering compression and using the 4EFTE turbo manifold etc. most importantly what are you doing with the original engine to ensure you get to the grocery on time?

^^^lol, i know with a power to weight ratio, a boosted dx wagon will run like ah thief. Got a 2002 model, just upgraded the headlamps to crystal

^^wel that's just it @ roughly 990kg a 20v swap would outrun a GT just on power to weight but I'm curious about the original engine's potential they seem to be doing alright in Australia, I have two, one is bone stock and the other is essentially my daily driver, thus far I've swapped the front brakes for the GT rotors and calipers which is a straight bolt on. I've added a mesh grille and BZ touring lights, got Levin bucket seats in front, and the BZ white dash with voltmeter etc., under the bonnet I've added a top mount strut bar, upgraded the electrical grounding, used larger plug wires with iridium plugs and used a K&N drop in, I've also adapted a set of 20Valve headers to fit my engine which has produced the best bang for buck thus far, this week I'm installing a set of Levin shocks and springs in the front and lowering blocks in the rear to give a decent drop while stiffening the ride a bit next I'm replacing the stock 3 speed auto tranny, with the 4 speed tranny from the Starlet Turbo and considering swapping the 5EFE ecu for that from the 5EFHE, I intended to do a 20valve swap but decided against it because I may sell the car so basically I just making the drive more enjoyable

corollalover101, good work there man.
Had mines dropped with lowering springs to the front and blocks to the back, very good handling with that but removed the blocks recently due to bad road conditions, left the springs due to lack of time and getting a fairly good ride still. No major engine work yet. Looking to switch to manual.

not 4wd. yeah, leaf at the back, hence why I used blocks to lower. a bit stiff though but still made the commute over Lady Young Road and the drive to Maracas way more fun.
The conversion to shocks abs would have been too costly for me.

The only thing in mine that is still DX is the rear suspension,
