Toyota AE80 Corollas are around .The popular generation saw itself in many trim levels btween AE82 sprinter trim to our domestic AE80 Sedan and Hatch.Even in local motorsport the likes of the "bench" have come into prominent form by literally evolutionizing an AE80 sedan From its humble 3A beginnings into a gravel eating , Turbo Charged and Anitlagging menace capable of tangling with some of the best on dirt and as well as on the late wallers circuit.
The goal here is a simple one , What will it take to take an Ae80 from grocery glamour , to a daily Naturally aspirated workhorse capable of mxing it up on the last sealed surface region of local motorsport- solodex. ideas and feedback will be great.I ook to purchase an Ae80 later down this year with thoughts of soldex next year. So guys you all are welcome to pass at my garage to lend a hand and share you collective toyota stories.Hook , Corolla_Gt, Nasscott, PBF1940, GT4Tfied , Alltrac, Loco and the bunch lets see waht we can do to get this Bus rolling.

Based on the information i have at hand , the baseline weight of 970kg. This is a good thing for p.t.w.. ratios have to be optimal in order to push this little 20valver up the course. From analyst projections , the Ae80's chassis can handle about 190-200hp based on the standard body layout, mounting points and suspension points. From corolla gt's experience , the AE80's front subframe also acts as part of the floor , with some pitchy bolts holding them together. For all purposes this has to be a reliable and fun to drive little car.

I say turbo a 4agze , take off the supercharger and use the intake from the early model 4age(blue top) since they have the largest intake ports. The 4agze have intermals that are compared with forged internals. I belive this setup would humble most vehicles (even turbo) with 1800cc or less. With some engine management, chasis strengthing,ported/polished head, racing cams, forged internals, arp fasteners, GT30 turbo, 550cc injectors and most important proper tuning , you would put to shame many SR20det's & Rb20/5's. With good traction some Sti's and evo's would also feel the hurt.

I agree with this guy. Being the owner of an AE80 myself I would love to see a project like that become a reality. I happen to know someone who has an AE80 without an engine and box for sale. It was manual, so all the pedals and shifter/cables are already installed. It also has front and rear ventilated disc brakes. sunroof and the original rear spoiler on the trunk. The body of the car is in really good condition.I can ask the price if your interested.

if it's a dex platform I would say go N/A, it's really about driver skill there
