For those who want more performance toyota is bringing back the supra, will be launched in 2015 with production beginning in 2017. I think they are collaborating with bmw, the engine might be a hybrid. Also toyota is planned on developing a new MR

Still seems like rubbish wrt hybrid.

Toyota did some good work with the 4age and the jz lines of cars. Do a upgraded performance oriented engine and sell to the masses.
Toyota could just relaunch the supra, ae86 ke70 and a few other lines but just do a few tweaks, fix the downfall of each car. they dont need to go reinventing the car again.

If I am to follow your thought process I would much prefer to see an upgraded 2ZZ-GE with 2.0L displacement, 12.0:1 compression, and individual throttle bodies. I would also like to see the ST246 version of the 3S-GTE engine return with Dual VVTLi. I would certainly consider donating a kidney to see the 1JZ and 2JZ engines return in V6 configurations with individual throttles and heads that also support VVTLi.

Looks interesting I hope they go through with it man we toyota guys have suffered long enough. It will get ripped to pieces by a stock GTR if it's a 400HP all wheel drive car but it's still a start.

Here's what my real concern is. At the time the supra became the godzilla of the US jdm street car class, Toyota's engineering processes were light years of distance ahead of their current standards. So I'm wondering if toyota can really produce a successor to the supra that is truly deserving of the supra badge.

Do you know how easy it is to get a current supra to put out up to 600 horse power to the wheels on completely stock engine internals? That kind of reliability is the real underlying reason for why the car became such a legend. If the new one breaks every time you put the pedal to the floor it will do toyota's performance record more harm than good.
I'd say leave the supra badge alone unless and until they're ready to bring something up to the standard of the LFA's looks and agility with a v6 engine supercharged or turbocharged beyond 500 horse power.

To be honest, if they're going for 400 horse power and all wheel drive, what they have described in that article is the perfect successor for the GT four celica. If they even hint at putting a celica badge on it I'd put my name down for one without even waiting to see what it actually looks like.

I think your organs are safe for now....history has shown that when Toyota retire an engine series it stays dead, dead, dead.

Had one of these for 3 days couple weeks ago. Great car, awesome driving experience. Nice and balanced and easy to get the rear wheels to go free on a track.
But i think my BZR levin feels just as good, and maybe just as fast at a fraction of the cost and running expenses
Definitely aint worth quarter mil for a roro. If it was cheaper, maybe.
A RXlate is faster than this  .

I keep hearing this over and over.. how easy it is to get the rear end of the GT86 out. Does anybody understand that this is called oversteer and it's a condition that represents a loss of total traction at the rear end? Since when did losing control of your car "very easily" become a good thing?
Furthermore what happens when this easy rear end out business happens around a bend in the rain or on the highway at 140km/h? smh. Everytime I see these cars I like them less and less. I see aiden is comparing his BZR levin to the GT-86 and saying that his car feels just as good and about as fast but that is absolute garbage and here's why.

That levin is at least 15 years old. The GT-86 is a brand new car. NONE OF US have any idea what an AE111 levin BZR feels like brand new because we all bought them RORO or 2nd hand. It should be quite clear that after 15 years or so of use the levin will not be at its best regardless of how well maintained it was.
So essentially what you're saying is that a 15 year old AE111 feels like a brand new GT-86 and therefore that makes the GT-86 a hopelessly lame piece of crap. I've decided to look to lexus for a new model two door car that actually makes sense. So far the their RC series seem to be the answer i've been waiting on for a very long time. I'll have 2 of those please!

^^Hey man, I was just giving my opinion, you don't need to agree with it or take it as facts. I like the GT86, just its too expensive in T&T for what it is, since it isn't fast or premium, just fun to drive.
I'd like to point out that with the traction control on, the car was incredibly stable, I don't think wet roads will be a problem.

People who can actually drive generally deal very well in oversteer. Not that long ago available car tech on trinidad was very basic but the drivers of the time made use of what they had and did amazing things. Rwd cars are still very capable, especially at high speed. The gt86 is definitely a fun car to drive, heck anything rwd and with power is Hella fun. Intentional oversteer is very enjoyable. Its all about what you intend to get from your car.
