Sluggish 20V Accel.

Postby Aarong420 » June 4th, 2007, 1:43 pm

Ive had a problem with the acceleration in my 20v when i first put it in, and its seemes to be coming back these days. When i mash gas, it will gradually gain power in small amounts. untill its a constant good burst of power. I have no idea what that may be....bad gas from the pump maby? AFM settings?

Also i've been burning rich ever since i put in the engine and i cannot seem to solve that problem. The car seems to idle normal. I tried grounding the AFM, ive heard it helps but that didnt do the trick.....ANY help ?

It's not a specific 20V fuel filter, it's a regular parts place high pressure fuel filter.

I have had this problem with my AE101 Levin! I found 2 things. The airflow meter was faulty, which I replaced with 2nd hand unit and I removed the Cat converter (not sure what your emission laws are) and replaced the factory twin mufflers with a 2 1/4 pipe front to back with single performance muffler. Now gets much better fuel economy. Approx 450kms to a tank around town. Used to get 350ish. Also if you have disconnected check light that may cause problems aswel. Good luck!

It could be a number of things....afm, ecu, ignition components, fuel filter, fuel pump, and so forth.
