2 channel or 4 channel?

Postby nismotrinidappa » July 16th, 2006, 12:31 pm

if u want to install a "average" system:

1 -2 subs
2- 4 mids speakers (6x9 and 6.5)
pair of tweeters..

what would be the recommended amp to use?

does a 2 channel push this efficently? or a 4 channel would be better....

with the number of speakers you want to use you should be looking for a 5 or 6 channel amp.

use 2 amps....

2 ch for mids- check ravestarfx i think he have lightning audio like $400. cyar get better than that.

and ah mono block or another 2ch bridged for bass.

reason beeing the subs would need more power.

this right ?

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ydA4ZvuZM4 ... i=495B1502

# 150 watts x 1 in bridged mode
# 50 watts x 2 into 4 ohms
# 75 watts x 2 into 2 ohms

http://www.canze.org.nz/reviews/index.c ... ct_ID=1338

"The Lightning Audio, Bolt B150.2 is a little two channel, 50 Watts RMS x 2 into 4 Ohms amplifier. It is also rated at 72 WRMS x 2 into 2 Ohms and 150 WRMS bridged into 4 Ohms."

IMo - i say dat only good 2 power 2 speakers like dem in ur 2 front doors or 2 6x9 in d back

monoblock amps r better suited 4 subs ...... :fadein:

If u intend 2 keep ur system very simple like 2 front door speakers & 1 sub in rear u can use a 4 chan amp , 2 chans running up front & 2 chans powering sub

If u intend 2 run more than 2 speakers then get a 4 chan & a monoblock

monoblock amp : look 4 a reputable brand (2 suit ur budget of course) that does 500wrms

SINGLE coil 306 u have - then ur amp needs 2 b 500wrms @ 4 ohms

DOUBLE coil 306 u have - then ur amp needs 2 b 500wrms @ 2 ohms

If by chance u need a box build - check meh sig below........... :fadein:

way dem mods here sleeping boy - :P

budgetwise like i said above a 4 chan amp powering 2 fronts (like 2 6.5" coax) & 1 12" pioneer 306 sub is d most economical

use d PM feature nah & we go work up a plan ....... :fadein:

...........actually u can get a 4 channel amp to do exactly what u want..... 1 sub and 4 mids. Get a 4 channel amp that is 2 ohm stable and can put out at least 500rms .
Along with a proper installer and u wouldnt be dissapointed, If u are on a budget this is a good start.

U could use one four channel amp, run each mid speaker of one channel each (using all four channel) and to run your base, bridge 2 channels. u need to use a filter going to the base speaker, otherwise u will fork it up

This all depends on what the wattage of your amp and speakers are.

If u planning to upgrade your music in the future buy a 4 channel amp now and to run your mids and base and when u get more money buy a monoblock to run your base and use the four chanel for your mids.

or save your money and buy rum go to the beach and get drunk more fun
