Where can I get electronic parts

Postby david12 » December 13th, 2021, 7:50 am

Good day all, I need to get 2 300 micro farad 100v non-polarized capacitors. Any suggestions on where to go?

Anyone here ever shopped at rebel sounds? He has something that can work but I kinda like to stick to the 3 or 4 shops I'm accustomed to and not be too adventurous. He didn't answer the phone when I called today so first impression is kinda poor but if anyone has good things to say I might make a pass.

Fellas no luck.

But I was given 2 options:
1. Wire 3 100 micro farad non polarised caps in parallel (Steve's has 100 micro farad) R&N guy told me this.
2. Wire some normal Electrolytic capacitors to create a bipolar cap (positive to positive or negative to negative). A guy on tuner told me this

Sad thing is that Parts Express has. I wouldn't say that I need them urgently but I would rather get them sooner than later

You know the voltage rating is what the dielectric is rated for and the higher the better?

Why not pass by any ac place and scoop up a few?

I'll call a place like Maraj and see. I just said 100v as a guide but if I'm getting the value I want in a cap that's rated to handle more I'll definitely get it. Thanks for the help.

Wow digging through some stuff that's lying around. I appreciate it man. I'll do some research on the options I was given and see if they'll work. I'll call Steve's and see what they have to say since I'm getting the 100 there.

You wont find a 100uf easy. If you do, it will be a premium price. 50 on the other hand, can be found everywhere.

Steve's had 100uf for some time now. I called like Monday and they still had. I bought 1 last year and iirc it wasn't more than $15

Haha, many people would be shocked especially the couple of tuners that I've met before I joined.

I probably should've said why I wanted them in case someone could've given me an alternative. So here's why I want them:

Before I talk let me say that this isn't any home theater or anything professional, this is strictly for some music at home while I'm doing work or relaxing.

So I recently started to use a set of home boxes I had lying around. I'm using the mini amp from parts express that I talked about in another thread to power them. But I don't have any sort of hpf between the amp and the 2 boxes. So I was thinking until I go out and buy something like a receiver or something that can give me that functionality, I could wire 2 caps in line to avoid sending any sort of low frequencies that can potentially damage the speakers.

When in doubt look at five star car stereo lol. Just saw a video and Dean used a 100uf cap on a 6x9. I'm guessing I can try the same on my set up. Not sure if to still search for something with a higher value because the crossover slope from a cap is very steep (6db/ovctave).

I said something like this above but rebel sounds has 200uf "bass blockers" which may be ideal. The shop is not that far from where I live so I can probably check and see. Just kinda sceptical as I would much rather buy the offering from Steve's than the other shop.

Nope the boxes have their own 3 way passive X overs. Somehow I thought I said that earlier. Just missing a hpf on the midbass
