I was in the same dilemma and say yes even with automotive speakers. My doors have no vapor barrier as the OE speakers had their own built in barrier.

From my experience there are two types available, a sealed foam baffle/pod and a plastic baffle with a plastic hood.
Not all vehicles requires some type of protection on the rear of the woofers as it depends on how water runs down your door. Prevention is always better than cure! If you are going with the foam baffles/pod, do not leave them sealed as this will rob all your midbass. You can use a knife to cut the underside essentially leaving a hood for your woofer.
While good car audio manufacturers design with use in mind for car doors which is a moisture rich environment, they can never mitigate against water running on the woofer parts itself.
If you would like to give your woofer the longest chance of living I would say yes, go for it.

ask those people with the pressure washer how much money you paid for your speakers and you may want to invest in a pair. It contributes to SQ also ?

After removing an old pair of 6.5 door speakers, it was evident that the speaker was more in an outdoor environment than within the car (back speaker sticker peeling off) if ya knows what I'm saying.. the 6x9 seem to be reasonably protected in the trunk. but I see baffles are also sold for that.

+1 for weather baffles

I personally opted for the NVX silicone baffles
The fit flush with the speaker magnet but are fully opened at the back
So moisture/condensation can still get to it but direct water falling on it wont happen.

I had a speaker seize in the past due to getting wet directly
