Alternator output?

Postby speedmelter » April 1st, 2022, 11:34 pm

I had one that failed under warranty, same with a family member’s as well. Had similar issues as this guy was having. In fact I even wrongfully changed the alternator thinking it was the issue, because the battery problem was intermittent

Whatever your problem was, if it was due to a bad battery, then the battery had an intermittent internal connection. That is very unlikely.

Much more likely, the cable connections were to blame. The intermittent cable connection may have unknowingly been remedied during a battery swap.

The only way to see a significant alternator voltage regulator drop on a healthy charging system is to dramatically increase the charge system load.

You would need to either start running a large load (motor, lighting, amplifier, etc.) or suddenly start charging a depleted battery.
