Kia sportage

Postby 323F » August 7th, 2020, 5:47 pm

Good day tunes, wanted to enquire if anyone ever changed their sub in their GT. No additional boxes just take out sidewall panel and change out original sub. Thanks in advance...

Sure it is doable. Firstly you need to pull the panel and look at the volume of the factory enclosure and size of sub, depth available etc..

I'm pretty sure it will be flange mounted with screws holding it in. Usually you will have to build some form of speaker adapter to fit an aftermarket sub on same location. Grinding of plastic may or may not be involved. However, feel free to go ahead and share your findings. Be brave!

Why do you need to replace the sub?

The factory amp is matched to the power rating and ohmage of the factory sub.

From the looks of it you seem to want more output. Replacing the factory sealed sub may mostly yield better sound quality and nothing much noticeable on amplitude.

Try changing the head unit.
It will sound like you did a whole new system
And sounds 10 times better
