B17 JDM Deck

Postby jose123 » March 6th, 2016, 3:48 pm

Hi all,

So I finally got my B17 Sylphy. Love her. Now the deck has an amazing sound from USB, but being JDM the FM band and TV won't work.

I have an 8" Android deck to replace. The wire harness is basically plug and play and the new deck sounds amazing, but I cannot get the rear view camera to install.

The new deck has an RCA In for that, but the original has a harness connector.

I need to get the reverse sense and the camera. Hopefully, or does anyone know if, the camera is powered separately from the deck.

Any help/ suggestions pls?

This is the label:

If this harness is disconnected with the car in reverse the cam cuts off:

Found where the wires can be spliced. Prefer not to do that, but if push comes to shove...

I had the same reservation about cutting cables in my car, but honestly, your goal is to do it once and do it properly.

Get the right tools for the job, take your time, do it right.

Will end up cutting.
Apparently that harness is for the steering wheel controls too.
Will search for a pinout.
Or maybe it would be easier to get a new reverse cam installed with RCA out?

We had to search for the wires in the harness, but in the end we did!
The after market deck loos amazing and performs just as well! I have Waze installed, so I get GPS on a lovely 8" screen!

Looks great.
I noticed the volume buttons on the outside and the CD slot above, are these wired into the after market deck?

Yes. The face plate came out that fitted the original deck and that just slot right in.
Perfectly designed to fit in the space.

That's interesting.
I've never seen an aftermarket deck look as OEM as this one, with the knobs and media buttons on the outside still functional.

That's good stuff.
