System upgrade advice

Postby TiidaBanton » September 23rd, 2014, 8:29 am

This is what i want to upgrade to. Please note i am a noob but would like to learn about these things so i would like to do the install myself as much as possible. I currently only have a 10inch jbl and 6.5 jbl coax off a soundstream 640.4 ch amp. Constructive criticism and advice is greatly appreciated:)

This is wat i want to upgrade to
Pioneer AVH-X4600bt
**********************
clarion 746eq
***********************
Soundstream Technologies Human Reign 4 Channel Amplifier 1000Wrms (HRU.4)
Power Rating: 140 Wrms X 4 @ 4 ohms
Power Rating: 240 Wrms X 4 @ 2 ohms
Power Rating: 480 Wrms X 2 @ 4ohms Bridged
*****************************************
Soundstream Technologies Human Reign Amplifier 2 Channel 1800Wrms (HRU-2)
Power Rating: 500 Wrms X 2 @ 4 ohms
Power Rating: 900 Wrms X 2 @ 2 ohms
Power Rating: 1800 Wrms X 1 @ 4ohms Bridged
***************************************
2 18 Sound 8" Midrange Speaker 200Wrms (8M400F)
Using back the Jbl coax for the front doors
*************************************
12" XTR PRO Dual 4 ohm Subwoofer
Power Handling:
Peak: 1000 watts
RMS: 500 watts
*********************************
So this is the size system im aiming for by christmas...what should stay what should go what should replace and with what? :)

first off those human reign amps cost a pretty penny. make yourself aware of the cost first.

secondly what do you plan on playing with that 2ch? definitely not necessary for that subwoofer.

an easier way to go about this is to decide on what speakers you would like in your setup first, then look for amps to play them.

yes for the sub i was told that it makes more sense to use a 2ch for bass rather than a mono

well the speakers listed are the speakers i want which are 2 8" 18 sounds for mids and the jbl coax in the front doors. I messaged steves electronics for the price but no response as yet.

And just get a mono for the sub... I don't see the need for another 4channel for the mids and a 2channel on the sub..

Ure going for a much larger build with that amp power

I may be wrong but this is the setup I had.

640.4 - running 2 6" eminence
8" faital pro

600rms kicker monoblock - on a xtpro

i made an assumption that since the 18sounds are 8ohm and run @ 200watts rms that i would need a decent amount of power the jbls are 2ohm btw

Have you looked at the xover network on the amp self?

u may not have a real need for a preamp or crossover since that deck has a pretty good 8 band eq & crossover features

all d other stuff seems mismatched & not very well chosen

my advice : d net & youtube is free with infinite info so start to read from d basics then check out good reputable videos online , u have plenty time from now to xmas to learn alot of stuff ..... :|

Not sure if that manual correct but it can double as a mids amp or bass amp. More frequency does not however qualify as reasonable grounds for its use over a mono bass amp.

Costs a pretty penny too, you can get a bass amp that does the same power for less.

I feel that installer trying to dig out yuh eye.

honestly i could be wrong but ive noticed the car audio scene is a bit different in other countries. Trinidadians apparently use pro audio equipment in their cars (intended for home theater etc) so wen i look online wat i come up with is basically components upfront coax in the rear mono block and sub. ive looked at soundman's installs and meades as well. If you have a specific direction that u can direct me in..just point the way.

alot of ppl worldwide going d loud way too but does not always necessarily means using DJ speakers since some car audio have come out with loud mids\highs speakers made for car audio too

point i was making about educating urself [whether u use speakers made by car audio companies or pro audio companies] is so that u choose equipment & speakers that effectively try to cover most of d music spectrum & not have gaps in it like no midbass or no highs for example ...

Well thats where we heading but sunil keshoor and akeem eh realise those guys down there does park and play, they listen from 30 feet away. But quinam and medford crew does drive with it at full tilt not only disturbing the peace but deafening themselves.

Nobody saying you cant use pro audio speakers either, use it right and you have no gaps in your system like what rovin said and I coat thurr.

Take a read on bcae1.com too. Should help you differentiate between sense and nonsense with these installers

take a look at SMD forum and see what those guys using for mids, pro audio, just properly crossed.
then again they have almost 5k on bass.

my advice is keep the 4 channel and use it. its a pretty decent amp.

if you insist on a pair of 18 sound midranges then power too you. Right now im pretty stuck in between, i like the tone of pro audio speakers but i cant bear to hear it for longer than 5 mins, my ears start hurting. Cant afford to forq up myself so young with the hearing.

what you could do is invest in a mono, something like 600rms-800rms
monos start from around $1500-2000 for a decent mono. (loving the asa 1000D 1000rms at 1 ohm)
i advise you to get a pair of dual 4 subs and work from there or a single sub dual 2.

for the money it makes the most sense. then again i changing music since 09 and never got the perfect system, learnt alot but never satisfied. However when i hear lesser than what i have in people vehicles im impressed . LOL

Today I heard a blue elantra with pro audio mids on the back dash. Man system clean! Bass deep and low, rumble like thunder, system decent enough in loudness as in it can disturb the peace a bit. He could maybe use a big more midbass but I suppose inside the car it sounds better.
Had a pal with a pair of emenince mids, good enough midbass and sound was pretty good.

I prefer to buy something like eminence vs a rebranded chinese midrange for 3 times the money.

Best midbass I ever heard was from a pair of 10 eminence delta lite neo speakers. Responding from 60-4000hz .loved to get my hands on a pair of those
