Team XS Power- Atomic Bomb

Postby Team2lo2flo » November 27th, 2013, 11:15 pm

Here is a brief profile of one of the loudest vehicles in the Caribbean

It is running approximately 100,000 Watts RMS

It uses 25 XS Power batteries total

13 16v ( XS Power D1600) Batteries for Bass ( 220 Volts)

10 16v ( XS Power D 1600) Batteries for Mids/ Highs

2 XS Power XP 3000 Batteries for Processors/ Headunits/ Vehicle electronics etc.

The interesting thing about this system is that the Battery bank for the Bass amplifiers are wired in Series. So the voltage of this bank is approximately 220 Volts!

This vehicle uses 3 Taramps 30 K amplifiers for bass ( which are designed to operate on 190-240 Volts).

It also consists of

10 Rockford T 600.2 Amplifiers
2 Rockford T 600.4 Amplifiers
12 15" Custom Built Atomic Subwoofers
and for Midrange. 14 10" RCF Midbass/ Lo Mid- Speakers, 8 RCF 8" Speakers and RCF Drivers.

The vehicle is owned by Mr. Rayeed Mohammed ( Unpeaceful Audio)

I interested in the 220V battery bank doh

how the amps running off that?
is it 220VDC amps? or it have some sort of switching mechanism to turn it into 220VAC ?

The amplifiers are designed to run between 190v DC- 225v DC

http://taramps.com.br/site/?p=produto&id=163

The vehicle is running 3 separate battery banks

220 V for bass

16 V for mids/highs amplifiers

12 V for vehicle electronics/processors

What charges the batteries in series? Normal 12v alts or 120v pma's / alts?

It uses a pair of Taramps External Chargers which charges the bank up to 225 Volts.

http://taramps.com.br/site/?p=produto&id=239

Chargers are only used before playing/ demoing etc, so nothing is charging the 220 Volt bank during play.

The vehicle has improved significantly since then.

The mids/highs still need some work though in my opinion, but its very very loud

The vehicle very loud, the battery bank and voltage holding and no dip in loudness over the songs he played in the stadium. Very impressive feat of engineering and know how to get it working so well. Best I ever heard it sound. Mids do need some work, was sounding a bit overdriven in the show, but still very good to back up the bassline. That being said, good work to the owners, supporters , technical staff for putting such a world class vehicle on our country's shores. Doubles real bess too. lol .

I agree, props to the technicians and technical staff who put this vehicle together. The idea behind the electrical design of this system was impressive and unique. I cant think of any other vehicle locally or internationally that uses a high current battery bank like this.

Not high current but high voltage. Doubles business doing good.
Junior Sammy truck not bad either. It's all about how much money a customer willing to spend.

Yes, Harry from Sound Extreme did this version of the Atomic Bomb. Previously Wisemen and Duane worked on the vehicle.

The entire amp rack and battery bank was done over, with upgraded batteries ( 220 volts), Taramps High voltage amplifiers, upgraded Atomic woofers and the enclosure was modified

Team2lo2flo.... not sure if ur unaware or if you forgot.... but in the show at the stadium the system he ran was wayy undercharged....the fan belt burst bout an hr or so before the actual competition..... i think his bass voltage was 172v as apposed to the regular 220v he runs .... whilst mid-range was around 12v or so as opposed to the normal 16v..... not too sure how his charging system works doh.....anyone who was at the mid center show a the week or 2 b4 would have had a real idea of how this vehicle performs where the voltages were kept stable @ 218v and 16v respectively.
