midbass?

was thimking about using two of these this as a midbass for my car gallery set up......what u more experienced guys think....

heard ppl say that loudspeakers arent so good at midbass and i want some serious chest hitting midbass....providing that i already have d power and budget....

The "knock" or "kick" is not midbass but rather an exaggerated peak of tone.It's not smooth, and tends to cause listening fatigue quickly.In some cases midbass would be the frequency range of as low as 50 hz , to as high as 200hz.It's the range where the midrange makes a smooth transition to the bass, and can easily be mistaken for upper bass.

In most "gallery" cars, there is no compensation for midbass, but rather the specific "knock" you tend to hear.To achieve proper midbass in a high output system, it would require the use of a properly designed enclosure, with the lowest playing point being -3db (F^3) under the intended crossover range to maximize efficiency of ouput.

This may require more emphasis on enclosure design than power and tuning.

The frequency band that occurs just above the low bass region, but below the midrange. This band runs from approximately 75-150 Hertz. A speaker with excessive output in this range will tend to sound “heavy” or “muffled.” A speaker with inadequate output in this range will tend to sound “thin.”

You can refer yourself to the guys in sq, they can let you hear what midbass is in a real world working application.

thanks for the info.......think ill go with d faital pro.......speck sheet say fs. is from 45hz i know that this is just a factory guide but it also has a huge xmax of 12mm....this should mean that i could get a lil low safely....once i have d proper enclosure which is gonna b professionally built...
