Advice needed: music for hilux

Postby swordsman » May 27th, 2013, 12:25 pm

hey peeps... can anyone offer some advice on the best music install for my hilux? Nothing crazy.. maybe 1x10" to fit behind the rear seat...not sure abt the mid range/amps etc... install MUST be neat..no wires, spacing..must look original..deck would more than likely be pioneer dbl din... model yet to be decided...

Any recommendations?? :?:

the dash kit can be sourced at Triple R in san fernando, along with all the necessary plug and play harnesses...

if you choose to retain the factory head unit, i have a dql 8 for sale....

Before anyone sells you anything

1. Decide your budget
2. Know what type of system you want ( you have to live with the system after you buy it )
3. Plan a balanced system based on the budget

This system can be very simple, but yet very effective.

The amplifier -

You can simply use a 5 channel amplifier that would take care of powering all the necessary speakers in your car, which includes the four doors and sub woofer.

The doors-

The doors. These carry a 6.5" mounting speaker, with a maximum mounting depth of 3.25", inclusive of a 15mm spacer ring. There's also the sail post tweeter which houses a 18mm tweeter, with a maximum mounting depth of 18mm.

The subwoofer/s-
There are not many 10" full depth speakers that can fit behind the seat.I would recommend a pair of eight inch woofers either ported or sealed.

The deck/head unit-
A simple dash replacement kit will change out your stock head unit, and allow for seamless integration into your oem dashboard. There doesn't have to have any wire harness cutting/splicing due to readily available harness adapters, that are direct plug and play.

The equipment choice now will be based on the amount your're willing to spend.

I'm using the JL 700/5 in mine, morel comps and a crossfire 10"sub, just like the one posted above. Sounds good but i think i want to go with two full size 8's instead.

personally i had experience with a vigo with music
the system was a 4 coax and a sub.
powered by 2 alpine mrp amps.
a pioneer dvd headunit with a rearview camera. It sounds pretty good but the installer didnt do a proper install on the backseat. So it doesnt seat properly.

get a decent installer
