Stuck in the middle of a bassline decision

Postby gettinhighridinlow » February 26th, 2013, 2:07 pm

Deciding whether to keep my Digital Designs 3512 or try a Treo SSX 12.

The amplifier used to power either sub is a US Amp MD3D.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

the dd 3512 is a very nice sub. can do alot of lows or loud tones (box n install dependent). is very smooth on transition of tones and will handle over 1500 rms daily.

treo ssx 12"- can get pretty loud and low ( also box dependent). can handle over 2500 rms daily.

between the 2, i believe its up to you. either of the 2 subs will perform extremely well, once it is installed properly. bt in my opinion the treo has the edge. as it will leave room for upgrades later on.

The question is will that amp be enough to extract the full potential out of the SSX.. I know the MD3D should be a good match for the 3512 and you will get maximum performance from it. Depending on how overbuilt the SXX is, it may not perform as well on the same power.

I don't have any experience with the SXX but it looks like an awesome driver as well.

the treo ssx is excessively efficient, and most times you don't need much more than 1500wms to get it going well, and that's not because it can't take the rated 2500wrms

contact "the wise one" , if he has a sale on them, the price may be well worth your while

@ Rovin- so far i only played one, since i only had one 12" enclosure. Both subs are dual 2. The box isnt build to accommodate the sub at a comfortable playing rate. I must say, I am quite impressed on the response of the sub thus far. Can't wait to do the double 12 install. My new challenge is finding the right amplifier for them.

@UZi Tech- Yes, Treo all the way!
