WTK: SPS70 and SPV44

Postby noise_maker » August 20th, 2012, 7:24 pm

Hey good day i have a stinger 70A power supply/charger and stinger spv44 battery. I will like to use them both on my 1200 rms amp to power it. My question is can the charger being a smart charger stay attached to the battery 24/7 even if i am not playing the amp... or will it stress out the power supply. thank you

hey i read the manual  and it says that it senses the battery voltage and adjusts to suit the battery charge, and sends a trickle charge current to KEEP the battery topped up when fully charged.

although they say it can remain on 24/7, they do not recommend it because all batteries do sumting call 'out gassing' where the batteries loose their 'battery-ness' and become useless lumps of plastic and lead.
they suggest only to leave it on while in use, and if a battery is not in use to have it disconnected but connect it once a month to rebuild the store of charge in the battery (as we know, leaving a battery at less than ideal voltages damages them also)

there is an additional unit called the Stinger Charge Module (SCM) which, when installed can charge the batteries without having to turn off the unit or disconnect the battery. so, with this additional unit u can leave the battery connected and charging continuously.
