need advice on enclosure build

Postby noise_maker » December 2nd, 2011, 10:30 pm

hey how big should i build my sub box for 2 DC lvl 3 15 in order to get 28hz tuning to be played efficiently and what should be my port dimensions for said frequency?

plans are to have each sub in separate enclosures, to be played with 1200w stealth bridged to 1ohm, subs are dual 4...... 8-)

or is having both 15s in the same enclosure a better way to go?

subs will be in room and never go in vehicle so any box size will do.

help is desperately needed!!

Separate is better. Use the recommended manufacturer spec.
Otherwise, lower tuning will lower power handling.
You can use WinISD to simulate the new tuning.
The sub will more than likely not mechanically handle the rated RMS in a larger box and/or lower tuning.
For real world performance, you can talk to loudsound on how they do in low tuned/room boxes.

maybe i should just make each box 4 or 4.5 cuft tune to 33hz and call it george :drinking:
instead of going low to vibrate everything and not hear the bass.....

the DC audio site says 3cuft for enclosure size

youtube box specs :|

IIRC with my short time with a dc lvl4, the DC recommended specs work pretty good so Id stick to that.

^^ Well given you have the airspace and tuning you could design the enclosure to fit your requirements. No need for a cutsheet, youve got the answers just create the equation you like.
