Need help deciding...

Postby certifiedquality » September 21st, 2011, 8:06 am

Can't make up my mind which amp to buy from these choices:
Re audio dts 1500.1

Dimensions: 10.43" (W) X 1.969" (H) X 13.385" (L)
(Can't seem to find much info on this one, Soundstream doesn't even have the manual on their site)

It's going to be powering a single 500W Rms 10" Orion XTRpro, in a ported box tuned to 29.5 Hz.
My budget is to be not more than US$200 if I purchase online or around TT$1800 if i buy locally. I'm looking at around 700W rms at 2 Ohms and amp must not be longer than 14" also. I'm open to other suggestions than what is listed above once it meets these requirements.

must it only be new amps?? btw,I'd rule out the lil wonder for sure, loss faith in those line of soundstream amps, the stealth is decent enough, but if it was up to me I'd buy the hifonics, never heard any reviews or even heard the re myself so I can't say.......

saw the re audio in action already and it was a pretty nice amp (looked good and for the price should deliver)

installed a 500.4 on a pair of 8" Soundstream 4 ohms (bridged the amp), amp never had any issues up to this day

so am guessing the mono should be around the same quality as the 4 channel

More headroom!

Locally, they sell for over $2200 in Gopauls, not worth it.. Shipping it in would be a better bet.

Those RE amps never impressed me much. Had a 1000Wrms mono on a 600Wrms RF Power T1.. sub kept asking for more oomph!

Hifonics HFi is they low end series. Not sure if they are CEA rated as yet..

I never read up much on the new SS amps, but heard a few people recommend them at times..

Like the specs on the audiopipe but it's too big to fit where i want to put it. I was suspicious of the hifonics with its ratings and only a 80a fuse. The re is actually a bit over my budget and so far haven't heard anything about it to justify going over budget.
So it's looking like one of the soundstreams.... unless someone has another suggestion.

I prefer the hcca though, but this one works great as well......

hifonics good eh,but like other brands for example soundstream they made a lower line of amplifies, cheaper as you would say, soundstream did this with the xtreme series line of amplifiers, really don't know what went wrong with them dey nah, then they created this lil wonder 3 thing, real failure IMO, I think 3stage tried to point out this, although hifonics were good based on the zeus, colossus and the olympus,I think they failed with the HFI,I heard only 1 and it sounded aight enough, quality was poor....

Throwing another one into the mix:

Soundstream Rubicon RUB1.1000D
Power Rating: 800 Wrms X 1 @ 2 ohms
Power Rating: 1000 Wrms X 1 @ 1 ohms
THD: 0.50%
Frequency response: 15Hz - 150Hz
S/N ratio: 95dB
Damping factor: >300
Input sensitivity: 100mV - 2V/2v-8v
Fusing: 3x35A
Dimensions: 8" (W) X 2" (H) X 13.375" (L)

(The manual and the site gives slightly different specs so not too sure what's going on there, the length is what especially concerns me as it's listed as 15.35 in the manual)

Yep under the front seat. It's a 2001 Mazda Demio.
I measured 14 inches at the narrowest part under there. I thinking the Rubicon might not fit.

you could try a stroker 1000.1

1000rms @ 1ohm
750rms @ 2ohm

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_205 ... 000.1.html

could give you it for $2000 brand new.
