WTK 8"sub

Postby mumra » July 17th, 2010, 11:25 pm

hey tuners wtk what kind of 8" sub will be suitable to put in a sealed fiberglass enclosure in a van (space is an issue not willing to sacrifice the back seat). Its a B2500. Not looking to put alot of power behind it, lust looking for a good listening experience Inside the vehicle.
Heard a kicker 8" d square one sounded good!

If you are looking for something that sounds goods that's not expensive then you may want to consider the REX 8" or the Image Dynamics ID 8".

The T3 Audio T200 8" is not a bad option as well.

A few tuners used them and were impressed!

Nice smooth response...

These were sold out in less than a week though..

You said you're willing to sacrifice the back seat, why not try a larger sub which will generally perform better in the sealed enclosure that you want?

i heard some flat subs didnt realy like how they sounded. i dont think i'll put the sub in the center console anymore i think im gonna stick wit it in a triangular box behind the seat. i dont realy want to use a flat sub, can i get a better quality with an 8" or two? has anyone ever fit a 10" behind that seat? i have 500rms @ 4ohms to put on a sub.

any sub that has a mounting depth of less than 4.75" should work fine in a wedge box. the only problem is that most of them are 8" so you have to deal in multiples. either 2 ported or 4 sealed.

and the max airspace that you can squeeze out is in the ballpark of 1.5 cubic to retain any sort of folding (or if you don't care about the folding, then you can get approx 1.8 cubic), so you can look for something along those lines.

hope that helped.
