subaru forrester 3 way morel setup

Postby headshok » April 6th, 2010, 2:59 pm

Hi guys!

How’s everyone doing!

Got another build for u guys.

This is a Subaru forrester. Owner of this car just got this car ( 2nd hand ) and decided to run back his old gear.

Originally he was on a W202 +H701 combo, but in Singapore, the H701 is in pretty high demand, so he sold it off and made a quick buck. He decided to give the Audison Bit 1 a try.

Amps wise, he’s running Butler Tube Driver blues, 2 pieces of TDB 275 and 1 piece of 2150.

Speakers are as follows:

Tweets: Morel Supremo
Mid range: Morel CDM88
Mid bass: Morel Elate mid bass

Sub woofer: Bazooka Nos tank active sub

He just found the bazooka interesting and decided to give it a try. After all, he didn’t have to buy a new amp to power a normal sub.

Anyway, he’s running the new Shok Industries Reference 5250 CCA 1/0 cable

think i mentioned it earlier.

we used the Bit 1 as we cant get the H701 down here ( they stopped production )

thus this is the only processor capable of going 3 way active on any HU.

Its a bit of a pain in the ass to tune it as you need to have a laptop ( thus u know, sometimes u cant play ard with the settings when ur bored).

But one thing that impressed me was the tonal quality of the processor. This far surpassed the H701 and this i must say is good.

But there is some pop noise issue, but guys have said it has been fixed with the new firm ware, but well, personally, i'm still an alpine fan and still waiting for them to come out with a new processor to replace the H701

Cheers!

Another option that was recently released is the JBL MS-8. It's comparable to the bit one in terms of features, but has an auto equalization component to it. I still prefer the bit one from what I've read on paper, but the MS-8 is something to consider if you don't want to go the route of using a bit one.

^^^but why use something different when you can get what you want from something you already got.

and even still, it doesn't change this!
WOODBURY, NY (March 29, 2007) – JBL’s MS-8-equipped BMW 325i took top honors in the IASCA ISQC and MECA SQ Extreme classes and earned the MECA PHAT SQ award for the highest sound-quality score of the event at the 2007 Spring Break Nationals, held March 24–25. The BMW’s system, built by Harman Consumer Group’s Gary Biggs, included the JBL® MS-8 O.E.-integration digital signal processor (DSP) connected to the BMW’s factory-installediDrive™ head unit, a trunk full of JBL’s Power Series® amplifiers and a pair of JBL W12GTi woofers.

The MS8 is being released this month. I haven't heard anything about a replacement for the 701, and I'm not impressed by the imprint stuff that's currently available.
