WTK system in relation to sq/spl

Postby Bloody_Angel » September 1st, 2009, 1:21 am

I'd really like to be on the fence more or less in terms of good quality music and CLEANLY loud like for beach limes n what the sort i don't plan on competing but the mids setup i'm looking at for that is 4 18 sounds 8" and 2 either Selenuim big drivers (can't remember model no) or like the RCF n450 or n850; RF 800.4 on the 8's and i'll be using a crossfire 600.4 (from a previous setup) to run the drivers until i get a two channel which may be before i install everything anyway. Would this be good enough for clarity when volume raises, i just don't want to be one of the people playin music n all u hearin is boom boom n can't make out a thing. Using 1 hybrid DD/juggernaut 12 with a mmats 2100.1 mono. Positive/negative feedback welcome this is the basic decision i've come with so i'd like to know professionals opinions before buying equipment this week

my advice, get a damn good crossover. preferably one from audiocontrol, like the DQXS or 6XS..

this way you will have FULL control over all your speakers and be able to play then within their effective frequency ranges..

want a loud clean setup, get a proper crossover..

ok the crossover will work perfectly for you purpose, seeing that it can bandpass filter
the outputs.

speaking from reading the ts parameters and curves + past experience with all the drivers i will be explaining here-

the 18sound 8",8m400 has a very usable range from 150hz to 3.5khz .This will not compensate for anything from 70hz-150hz, where half of the music really exsists

in this case, the fital pro W8N8-200, will get the job done from 70hz- 2khz range, from where the HF driver can pick up

the HF driver,in reality,you don't need a large one, a small simple driver with a usable range of 2khz-20khz (most large hf drivers don't cross 16khz)will be very tolerant if used with the correct flare, which in this case i recommend a 90x 40 degree dispersion, if it's for your dashboard. the hf driver i recommend for this use is the selinium 210/220 ti or the rcf n450.both of these drivers are very capable of getting the job done.

after that, all you need to do is using the x-over, set the midbass at 70hz the hit the bandpass switch and set the highpass at 2khz. This will allow for you to get the midbass from 70hz to 2khz, and the HF drivers from 2khz to 20khz

after this, now it's time for powering them up. the rf 800.4 will work great. bridge at 8ohms.why?-(using the rf amp)

this first one will compesate per speaker
8ohms = 200wrms = 5amps = 40v

vs
this compensates for both speakers bridged-
4ohms = 400wrms = 10 amps = 40v

so basically,a speaker is alot more controled at high ohm levels due to the speaker being an electromagnet and the voltage being the main control over the voice coil, thus higher voltage, means alot less distortion, current draw and alot more output

i have one of the '09 pioneer ub 5000 u think the one with the usb and ipod connections and wasn't really planning on changing it; was trying to stay away from the high backdash though that's the only reason i was going for 8" speakers instead of 10" but if the RCF 10s with the n 850s will work relatively better than the 4 8's and seleniums i'll look into it. I should be in trinidad by tonight would you mind pm'ing me your contact no. rovin

cant remember what d filters on that model is but i know it was d middle model from that yr

its only a 2" difference & mightl cost u cheaper to power 2 10s than 4 8s which doesnt have d lower tones like 10s ...u shud still be able to see some of ur rear view though

337-6128 ... but i dont mess with hazardous f\glass stuff though - only mdf enclosures ....

if u use a 800.2 rockford to run 2 tens,
and a 800.4 to run 4 8s

my guess is that the 8s would be loudeR?

More cone area, same power.
