:bump:

soooo.....looking to build again in a few months....the 3 way realm tickles my fancy quite a bit.

But my problem....deck is 2 way active.

suggestions?

I was thinking:

redo the doors with 8's for midbass and put a 4" mid in the kick. Both run off the rear / low / mid of the head unit and amplified by one 4 channel. Split the signal to feed the amp, high pass for the 8" and low pass for the 4" is set up by the deck. The amps onboard xovers will low pass the 8" and highpass the 4".

Thing is...with drivers on the doors I need TA to get it right but with mids in the kicks...very little TA. I am willing to tweak with TA to suit but can both drivers (on each side) be TA as one without messing it up if both drivers are installed close together?
I can try to get the pld almost equal by bringing the 4" closer to me and installing the 8" in the doors.
Or the next option, door pods thingy for shallow mount 8's and install them near the edge of the door nearest the kicks and install the 4's nearest the doors so they almost next to each other.

I looking at 45hz - 100 maybe 150 for the 8's and 100 maybe 150 - approx 7khz for the 4", willing to experiment with the faital 4" and havent made up my mind on some 8's yet.

thoughts, comments, advice?

Why avoid ta that much when it's available to you ?

No, think about it, no matter how you place two drivers one will always arrive after the other.

You over thinking this btw.

nerve, before u go down the 3way route, have u mastered 2 way?
because having more speakers in the car will probably sound louder but not necessarily better

Or if he drives like a gangster and leans so far to the left that his head is in the middle of the car.

pld of less than a foot are difficult for the brain to detect.

similarly, 2 drivers, less than their cone diameter from each other act as one.

Quite curious to hear Sully's latest install.

Has anyone tried midbass/midrange mounted high on the door and tweeters on A-pillar?

Sully is currently too lazy to sort of some of the sub bass / mid bass issues. And there's currently no time correction (again, too lazy). Perhaps closer to an event I'll get this sorted in order to compete. I can't let Jonathan walk away with a win in Pro again.

I wanna try wideband in sails but my right side is a bit complicated with the steering wheel being right there so my only option is aiming for a single seat application or go on the dash which I wanna avoid in this vehicle.
