This is what the Aura/Seismic 1808 looks like:

I think most SPL manufacturers will look at the cost of neodymium magnets as the biggest factor in not putting much effort into building them.
The DD Z series is not neodymium according to the DD website but another rare earth metal as riad stated.

Actually we do seeing as we have to move the vehicles at the end of the day lol..

i wud love if they make lighter but still powerful subs

i have actually turned down box jobs & installs with overly heavy subs since i wud want to have kids some day in d future & to not hurt my nutz , back & belly

if u a spl competitor & working on a new design or trying to get better numbers then u have to be taking out & putting back in ur sub\s & box while experimenting & OMG thats alot of heavy lifting to do especially if u work all by urself like me .... :(

I currently use the Jbl Srx Subs, They have neo magnets and a full aluminum frame. They weight in at 8 lbs and handle 1600 watts program power and 3200 peak. Check them out u'll be amazed by the technology behind that speaker it's the JBL 2256. Sounds pretty close to the older Jbl's.

apart from the sub woofers are the midrange neo drivers as effective(in terms of power handling and life span) as the normal magnets?

"was looking at some rcf 12 midbass drivers same frequency response and power handling with neo magnets, weight is 4x less"

I think that by seeing so much manufacturers going the neo route now is enough testament to their durability for use in all types of audio drivers..
