IMHO, playing with the lead from an old battery just to kill resonance?

Not worth it man. Just buy some lead shot if you really want lead, or find an alternative.

I might use a bit of mdf in it but I am contemplating the cement & lead still. enclosure needs to be as dense as possible.

its on the table at the back of the house, filling it with water will give me an average volume so I will know what height I am working with.

When I came across that link I was almost positive I made a mistake in the mixture as 2 days had passed & it had not cured as yet. The previous test mixture was approx 1/3 cement & 2/3 resin, it turned out fine but took about a day to cure so I had not lost hope about this one.
I used close to a 50 : 50 mix of cement & resin, it gets pretty thick & takes long to dry but it gets the job done. I used a slightly different one (approx a 40 : 60 or 30 :70 cement to resin mixture) to apply kitty mat & I am using the 50 : 50 mixture between ever 2 layers. The end result looks sexy :P

I really got the ingredients from DK though, the mixture part I wasnt too sure about.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.. the curing time on the piece will not depend on the amount of cement you add, but the volume/ ratio of hardener.

I had the pleasure of judging this car for both install and sound at Canadian Western Finals a couple weeks ago. A very nice install, but there's a lot of small flaws in the work. Very technical install. Has the ability to have a preset EQ for each track.

I think to add density & decrease the resonance.

Isnt the lead plates in the wet cells a like lines on a graph page just they are about 1 - 1.5mm thick & each box is like 1/4" - 3/8" a side length?
Why not lay them down on a flat surface & use a heavy piece of metal with a sharpened side to cut it up?

somehow i dont think the lead sheets will have a better adhesion to the surface as the shots which is integrated into the surface.. its like using pieces of tiles to plaster a wall rather than sharp sand ..

melting down an old battery is stress...did that a couple times before and wont ever do it again....almost half turns out to be unusable

u all are better off buying lead sinkers used for fishing or nets and melting those instead
those are alot more easier to melt and it basically melts pure with little rubbish on the top

actually u all can check out the smallest size ball sinker or jig weights at any tackle shop and see if those can work for you instead of playing with lead!

I see some of those tyre shops have lead weights that they have removed....I dont think they use them back.

Awesome attempt. That fiberglass is not going to hold on the paint, that's on the original plastic of the grill for very long.

There are some prep steps that I didn't see you do, or see evidence of it being done, that would have ensured a stronger adhesion of the resin to the plastic.
