Rear Speakers in Corolla DX wagon

Postby 323_wagon_dude » June 28th, 2005, 10:05 pm

Hello all. A friend of mine has asked my assistance to install 2 6x9 speakers the trunk area of her Corolla wagon DX. There is very little room to mount these speakers without too much modification/ fabrication to that area. She wants speakers in the rear but it does not have to be those 6x9s.

There is a small area above the wheel well where a 4x6 will fit, but the body will have to be cut since there is a sheet of metal behind the trink upholstery. I'm wondering if this is the best bet and least work involved in installing two rear speakers.

Can I have some advice, opinions and recommendations?

Thanks

can't you make a pod (or plate) and install it in that area?

If it were my car i'd have made the pods for the 6x9 and mount them in pretty much the same area where the 4x6 would fit. But, its not and the owner doesnt not want anything done to her car. I asked her about building some mini-boxes to hold the 6x9 and then attaching these to the sides...she thinks its too much work and doesnt want that to be done to her car. Hence the reason i'm trying to find out what other people did.

if she wants the speakers she's gonna' have to let some thing be done!
putting them by the tirewells with the pods would only have the upholstery cut , without the pods the metal ould have to be cut,
but i think 4x6's suck any way

she could have some 6's or 8's be placed in the in the rear doors if there's so much of fuss about the trunk

Pods may be the best solution, as it will be a easy to upgrade or remove later on without much fuss.
