Why not use a car audio processor like a Zapco dsp8 or mosconi 6to8? Both available locally from dealers (warranty and support), priced around the same as a driverack with 12v mods, and both smaller than your headunit.

The driverack IMO is overkill with the car audio processors available.

One of the best sounding cars locally uses a Zapco processor and the owner was a firm believer in drive racks (one of the first guys I knew using a a pro-audio processor actually)

I can't remember the mosconi price offhand but Ryan (wiseone) is the dealer so you could talk to him.

The mosconi maybe relatively high but the Zapco and Rockford within your price range.

It's up to you if a 1year local warranty and dealer assistance, plug an play (rca-rca) application and sized smaller than an ipad is worth an extra $500.

Stop guessing on the price and warranty.
Call the dealers, work out a price and find out about the warranty.
Additionally, you'll probably want to get the control module for whatever processor you select to go with. That's going to cost a little more. These things need to be factored in.
