WTK: 5 channel amplifiers

Postby marvin23 » March 18th, 2013, 9:08 pm

i was just wondering....can the sub channel on a 5 channel amp run on 2 ohms, while the other 4 channels run at 4 ohms? Will having these 2 different figures on the same unit have any negative effects or is it safe?
The amp is a phoenix gold sd 1300.5.......thanks again..

according to the amp:

Frequency Response: ± 1dB from 20Hz to 20kHz
Signal to Noise Ratio: >100dB
High Pass Crossovers: 12dB per Octave
Low Pass Crossover: 18dB per Octave
High Pass Crossover Range: 15Hz to 250Hz
Low Pass Crossover Range: 30Hz to 300Hz
Bass Boost @ 45Hz: 0 to +18dB
Low Level Input Range: 200 millivolts to 8 volts
Front and Rear Channels Lowest Load: 4 ohms Bridged or 2 ohms Stereo
Subwoofer Channel Lowest Load: 2 ohm
Typical Efficiency: 70%
Damping Factor Greater than 200

Generally speaking, the lower the impedance you run, the more power you make but sacrifice efficiency.

The higher impedance will make a little less power but gain you on efficiency. THD and damping factor should be higher here as well.
