WTK: AC Delco Deep Cycle Batteries. Any good for Music?

Postby carfreak1024 » May 16th, 2010, 1:44 pm

I saw a banner the other day with a sign that read"AC Delco Music Batteries Available Here". Then i went somewhere else and saw that they advertising an AC Delco battery with a 95AH capacity.

Just wanna know how these things stack up to let's say an Optima Yellow Top D34/78, a Kinetik HC2000, or a Powermaster d2700 or other batteries like that. Looking to get one for my car? Also how much should i be ready to fork out for something like this. Also would putting this battery in the front or the rear make a difference.

Also is buying this battery instead of buying dynamat a good decision? What kinda gains will i be looking at with both. I mean i just decided i was going to keep and use my JBL BPX2200.1, and use that for bass, and the 2 XM-2002GTR for my mids.

Had a small one but had to replace it recently due to deterioration of the cells so it swelled, but that was a small one. The marine type is powerful and can be recharged from the alt after being depleted (so claimed).

They are good batts but of course you need to match you batt bank to your system.

If you need to do work on your electrical system,(hope you have a voltmeter) then a battery over dynamat imo...don't know much about these batteries other than my friend has two of them and it seems to hold out well....i say xs power ftw...unless someone can point out if these batteries can perform better for the price ranges....

Have a red top optima worked well for the first year but the heat from the engine looks like its damaging the cells

i recommend putting optima's at the back being jell based batteries

the AC Delco works well too gonna get me one of those soon

i bought a 80Ah Ac delco battery dry cell, bought a month i have just put music in my car, bout a 1000-1200 rms system, i did the big 2, 0 guage from -ve battery pole to charsis and 4 guage to engine and body.
1 check voltage engine idling and every ting off = 14.45V
2 engine idling and music bout 1/4 playing and head light and ac blower no gas in compressor so no full ac on but = 14.24V
3 I notice bofore the big 2 the car use to thumble for a bout 4 seconds b4 it start, now 1-2 seconds.
4 Yesterday driving wit music less than 1/2 put on head lights and i notice my clock sreen on dash did even dip or blink!!!!.

What i want to know i have this battery in the engine bay will the heat damage it ????????
First time i using dry cell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So far de battery wit de big 2 really give the car alot of potential in the electrical area. LOL.
by the way is battery over size or undersize for this music set up???????????

I know it's a 5 month old post but just to clarify for others that may read this.

The optima red top is not intended for this type of application, the yellow top is better suited and recommended.

The optima is not jell based but AGM.

Some info on the different type of batts http://www.windsun.com/Batteries/Batter ... 0Batteries

I recently changed my battery, previously i used several stinger spv44 together, not into loud music anymore so just wanted a decent battery for an everyday driver and for some moderate music, after careful research and checking different brands, specs and prices i opted for an optima yellowtop D34/78 and at $1700 new was a great buy, only con is the 1 year warranty.
