we wanna build for SQ...but not sure what class we'll be put in...

i was advised from another member of our team to try the JL w3 and not the w6 cuz of dry rotting issues the w6 face with their surrounds...or the morel subs...

it gonna be a stealth install...

gonna be using 1 stinger spv40 in the front....infinite comps in the front doors and infinite co-axials in the back doors just for ambiance...

catch tail part right now is deciding a sub to go with...any suggestions???

open to any criticism

Pages SQ-4 and SQ-5 of the rule book would answer your questions pertaining to what class you would be in.

On the JL Subs. The ones in Trinidad have some dry rotting issues. If you're sourcing the sub from the US then you should be fine. The stock that my last JL W6 sub came from is the same sock that my first JL W6 sub came from. That should give you an indication of how old the current stock in Trinidad is.

you could always look at the idq they have a pretty good rep on sq forums
and its easily available down there an not that pricey

if you competing are u going to compete with the rearfill or the rearfill is just going to be there for daily driving?

well i havent experiment or tried my hand at the rearfill yet i only know what ive read up online but
from what i can tell is that the rearfill will mess with your soundstage and you need to add a good bit of delay and attenuation for it to blend in with your soundstage.. but its difficult to do but im trying it as ive used 2way active and passive and 3way active and passive just to keep playin around and have something to do im going to try my hand at the rearfill and also because i have the processing and extra channels to do it and maintain my dedicated frontstage

but imo just use the frontstage alone when competing it would make life hell of alot easier

and also i believe on realm of excursion there was a great12 challenge which you could look up for some reviews and opinions on some of the more common subwoofers

lemmie know if u ever succeed in that project u doin with ur rear fill....will love to enter with front and rear hooked up...but i know time alignment and whatever else will sheit up d whole scene...was doing some research and i really read that it's not advisable to have rear fill if u serious about hardcore SQ

Casper,

If you look at page SQ-10 of the rule book it more or less tells you what score to expect with respect to the sound stage. Rear fill tends to pull the sound stage back, thus giving you a lower score. Another aspect that rear fill may affect is depth. Rear fill may pull the depth closer to the listening position since some of the frequencies originate from the rear.

I'm not saying that rear fill is a bad thing, it's just more challenging. If you can overcome the two problems that I've described above, then kudos to you.

Looking forward to hearing your system in the competition lanes.
