COOLING FAN INSTALL.. help needed

ok so i want to install a small cooling fan on my amplifier in the car. it is rated at 12V and i tink 0.14 Amps. Im looking for sum advice on how exactly i can connect this to the battery to receive power without being fried and any ideas on how to install this so that it cools the amp best?

you can connect it to the remote wire from your deck.. connect the positive wire from the fan to your deck's remote wire and the negative wire to the vehicle's ground..

that way the fan will only operate once you turn on the radio..

if you connect the fan directly to the battery, it will only draw enough power to operate, so it will not 'fry'.. the only way you can damage it is by connecting it to a source much higher than 12V...

When connecting to the remote wire, you have to ensure that u dont overload the current requirements of the remote turn on from the deck.
So the question to be asked is how many amps u running of the deck's remote wire and are u using a relay?

i remember someone had posted a list of the current draw required to start some amps, if i remember correctly, the current draw was very minimal for most amps on the list..

How do you calculate the current draw to start your amp?

You can measure it with an ammeter, clamp on or normal multimeter.
Try a relay to run your remote distribution.

I've seen it work directly on the remote but the relay is the safer option.

For cooling you can do it in such a way that it pulls hot air away from the amp.

I tried this once on my system with a pios deck and I started hearing the humming from the fan through my system, so I ran a separate turn on switch for the fan, a teck. told me that it was the deck.

also u can run a toggle switch up front & turn it on\off when needed ...

kool thanks alot ppl i connected it today myself n it was working, but i dont know yet if its drawing enuff heat from the amp, i hope so, once i run the amp for a while i wud know eventually... THANKS ALOT

if your amps are inside an enclosure, using the fan to pull air out, across the amps is best..

if your amps are out in the open, you will get much more efficient cooling to point the fan(s) directly towards the amp(s)..
