How to restore scratched CD's?

Postby Tired Accord » September 20th, 2007, 2:02 pm

Well I did a small search but didn't find anything. Any ideas on how? I did the toothpaste thing - but that's only good for very light scratches. The scratches are a bit more severe. I'm thinking about 800 grade sand paper? Meguiars scratch polish? :? :? :?

If you can get NOVOS plastic polish, its the best!

Some people recommend toothpaste also

If you CAN use winamp effectively, use the cd reader plugin(check winamp website) the plugin re reads the track more than once as opposed to once in a cd player, then send the output to a PCM wav file, you can then burn these to a cd after. Repaired my scratched cds this way already

actually the substance used is only half of the process, you gotta use a soft cloth and move from the center to the edge of the cd rather than haveing to use the normal technique of goin in circles

Best solution:

Download limewire/soulseek/ares (NOT Kazaa <level virus)
Install the program of your choice
Enter the title(s) of the song(s) from the damaged disc
Download a song from the list that comes up
Buy an mp3 player

problem solved

ah guess it depends if the phone face is glass or plastic....If is glass - you could use No. 7 Polishing compound....I use this on meh windscreen without problems. If you believe the face is plastic, then you could use any of the other methods described above.....I guess.....
