What songs or program material do you use to tune your cars to and also what do you use as your reference for your tunning - headphones, a home theater system or .......?

There are specific tracks that the Judge uses off the IASCA CD.

e.g. Tracks 5,6,7 for tonal accuracy

9,10,11 for staging

15,16,17 for imaging

28 for rto

either 27 or 29 (cant remember, its a zero bit track and the other is for turn off and turn on noises) for noise tests.

Your refrence material should always be live music, because everything else would be reproduced, failing that, get hold of a refrence home reciever and a good quality speaker system.

Our first "refrence" system was a Yamaha natural sound reciever and a pair of paradigm speakers.

The CD tells you what you should be hearing and also if something is missing

It should be on everyone's list :-)

actually when tuning cars i use the iasca test cd first to set xover pts and gain settings

then use regular music that i am acustom to listening to in my car to do fine tuning

my tuning method maay not yield the loudest the system may play however it does give the cleanest sound over all no matter what type of music is being played

before i start doing any tuning with music i usually drop in the rta and check the response of the system and look for any peaks and dips that may cuase issues with tuning and try and even them out depending on the available equalization and crossover tuning

iasca's test cd to check on the correct positioning of he speakers etc and gives me the limitation of the system

then in most cases based on my experience i dont need to make any more adjustments and you can take any music type afterwards and it will play much cleaner and accurate than before the system was tuned
