wiring instructions

Postby sudesh » September 4th, 2006, 3:38 pm

i have 2 12"dual voice coil subs and a 4 channel amp. what is the best way to wire the subwoofers from the amp. I also would like to know if the 2 RCA rear outputs on the deck can be bridged with a 2 Y adapter, so i can get 4 channels of input....thanx

i'm guessing your amp is bridgeable to two channels. those speakers wont match properly with that amp! you can wire it with each 4ohm coil to a channel on the amp OR series the 2 coils on each speaker, bridge the amplifer and run the series coils (8ohms) to the bridged channels. Either way, you wont get maximum power out of your amplifier....

for that setup to work properly, you would need either a single 4ohm sub or a dual 2ohm sub or another amp

the power off the 4 channel when bridged is really at 4ohm

so if he bridge each sub he'll get ah 2ohm load..and might not be sufficient power for the subs

ur amp is stable at 4 ohm mono and 2 ohm stereo.

at 2 ohm mono ur amp will trip.(4 channels brigd to give 2 chan)

best ting to do is run it at 4 ohm stereo.
simply a terminal to a coil.

or at 8 ohm bridged an series d coils.

or buy a 1 ohm stable amp an parallel all to give a 1 ohm load.

correct me if im wrong.

i say parallel the coils , bridge the amp @ 2 ohms , keep the gains relatively sane and make sure the power supply to the amp good and hope for the best , at least try it b4 u go spend money on more stuff

i Wouldn't do that if i were you,

Especially with that Power Acoustik amp,

they are not overbuilt and the protection isn't the best,

run it 8 ohm bridged.
