this is what madpipeo wrote

havent n e one jus tried hooking up a dual coil, with jus one coil, wuts the diff between both coil and one coil on the woofer then..... because with both coil the woofer tends to be louder then hooked up to one.... i dunno wa all this is....

wrong

dual coil and quad coil subs offer more amplifier configeration options

eg

2 dual 4 ohm subs can be bridged to a 4 ohm mono amp

wheras 2 single 4 ohm subs cannot work as the load would either be 8 ohm or 2 ohm

dont let anyone fool you into thinking a dual coil sub better than a single coil in terms of loudness

its really for flexibailty of configs and loading of amps to get the most out of the amp

some amps can go donw to 1 ohm and 2 ohm loads

isnteady of using 4 single coil subs to go down to 1 ohm you can use 2 dual 4 ohm subs and achieve the same 1 ohm load without needing the space for 4 subs

get my point

90% of trinidadians have the misconception of this dual coil thing over a single coil

so be carefull from whom you get advice they as well may not know what they are talking about or was taught the wrong thing

where u got this statement from?....

this is real non sense.

horse it will cut ur rms power in half due to the speaker using only one 2 layer coil however when 2 coils are hooked up dey does combine to form 1 coil! wether in series or parallel remember ohm's law?

With a dvc sub, you can also change the q of the sub by using 1 voice coil and varying the load on the other vc. You basically then have the ability to change the sound of the sub without varying box size...or at least I think so..

Interesting, but I never tried it tho.

IncriminatorAudio, Do the maths and you see why it's the same efficiency.
