Do you need a special drivers license to take part in the Rally Events??

Where and how does someone go about obtaining one???

So there;s no license required to paticipate in Local Rally events...

Valid Driver's permit - and you will have to pass through a brief orientation session with one of the Rally Club competition executives. This will be done on a closed track.

The Brief orientation session is driving a rally car on a closed track or just a speech?

When your car is ready it will have to be scrutineered for safety (roll cage, seats, harnesses, electrical and mechanical safeties etc) - once the car passes the inspection you will have to drive it on a closed course (most likely preysal) with one of the execs in the passenger seat. Once you can handle your stories - you can come and enter.

The last rally for the '08 season is Oct 25, then we are done until 2009.

not only does it have to be licensed, but it also has to meet all criteria to be roadworthy...

i.e. horn, wipers, indicators, mirrors, rear number plate lights, etc.

seems kinda obvious... but sometimes overlooked

So let's say I bought like an old starlet from Barbados; how can I go about racing it in Trinidad?
I know Dean's Subaru is locally registered, I'm trying to remember if Betts' own is as well.

no it isn't... however he qualifies as a specially invited guest of the TTRC and as such a bond is put up and the vehicle can stay here for a certain time until the bond expires. With that he get's a "V" plate which carries with it the normal road insurance etc.

so in fignis case......
he's a local, but the vehicle isn't.............and by the L.O. laws, it is too old to be registered locally, what's the option if any?

i am not sure... it may be that the car will have to shipped in and out every so often... and registered somewhere else

as far as I know it does not matter where it's registered, if it's to ole it's not going to be registered.

The only way is if you're a returning resident and can prove you owned the car car for more thna 2 years in the previous country.

The only way is to do the "local" registering, which will be impossible as we don't have that model chassis running around here in TnT.

Best bet, come here and buy a local regged car if you plane to run here full time.

or do the shipping thing as Mini suggested.

What type of car would be good for a beginner? Preferably a RWD for which body parts would be realitivly cheap and easy to find. Any ideas?
