we drove through 3 of the 5 stages today, i.e. sailor gully, darkhole and canefield.

The surface in canefield looks horrible as compared to last year. Bumpy and badly patched. Darkhole and sailor gully has a couple interesting corners, wide 90 and tight s-turns on relatively smooth surface, so should expect some action there.

Despite the bumpy stages, the rum is flowing well, last night we boosted about 20psi with no reported problems. The bartenders are performing like a well tuned pit crew.

St. Lawrence Gap was the best stage last night, after the 90 right into Mc Brides, there was a slight incline followed by a sharp 90 left to the bar. Several trinituner photographers were seen lining the bar taking a good vantage point for the night.

Stages ended around 3 this morning

Party report to be updated tomorrow as planned

Shelford running well, he finishing all the stages as far as we can see. Same with Vishal, they not pushing too hard though.

Plenty casualties today, men all over the place.

Saw Ainsley's car tonight, doesn't look too good. He hit the front left pretty hard after he repaired the car from the first stage. he not havin too mush luck with the left side so it seems. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Left front cradle arm and steering end were broken on Ainsley's car. And yup...shelford and Vishal runs looked good but slow.

Seems Ainsley ran off 3 times today:
1st run of the day when he damaged rear axle
somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd stage with the front grill covered in grass by the time he got to where i was standing
then on the 2nd stage after lunch when the left front suspension went

som e day 1 pics up including vishal and ainsley

www.rallybarbados.bb

as for vishal and shelford running slow... as a past competitor... the pace there is unbelievable... especially if you're accustomed to driving on gravel... i remember our first stage there last year... i thought we were up there... only to realize we were 30 seconds off the pace in our class!

first time in Bim... take yuh time... get to know the stages...have fun... and finish..

I hope Ainsley can come back for the Sunday cup... I see he's listed as retired. Vishal is running 38th (after starting 39th) and Shelford 42nd.

But according to rallyscoring.com of the 89 entries, only 45 are starting today!! (well still in RB08 and not just the Sunday cup)

As Rally Drivers mature they must understand the truism that to finish first one must first finish. And running on the Bajan "tarmac" is something else, and if it wet, well that is another story.

But we all know that this Bajan Rally is like a bad addiction where you just cannot help but want to go even faster, and the cheering crowds at every corner are even worse than the addiction.

Also the "local knowledge" gives the Bajans the edge and this also forces the foreigners to attack even more.

Lord, look at the attrition rate, and yet we still have the true competitior now more eager to jump into this incredibly challenging event.

Let's hope for the best for everyone today.
