All members ,
We at CARS would like to extend our thanks to you Newcomers , Drag and wind competitors , seasoned as well as rookie members for a grand display of driving out on track today. Though the event may have been hampered by the traffic delays and other happenings , for all who took part the event was well worth the effort , especially in the head to head runs were all were treated to some of the closest racing this year yet. Special mention goes to Mr. Rae Smith of TTKA who provided some excellent guest commentary to the delight of all within an ear shot . Also to Autosport personnel who gave us usage of their generator in order for us to run the event. Also to Sarge for his handling of all our competitors and guests at the gates, Mrs. Van Sluytman for the tasty lunches that were prepared for us and to Mr. Deo for his Tent services. We thank our sponsors ,NOV Downhole ,Trinituner , Abraham Distributors and Zorce Racing Magazine for their support. Finally to those members both new and veteran who came out and had an exceedingly fun time. We look forward to seeing you all at our next event on November 24th.

Until then Happy Motoring.

Great event - well executed and very exciting.

Just a query/for your information - it was mentioned at driver's briefing that drinking was not allowed but yet Akash Maharaj (black Mazda RX7 #704) was openly drinking (Stag beer). So much so that he came up to the head to head briefing with the Stag in hand for all to see. A number of people saw this but of course said nothing, as I was told if the officials saw this and did nothing, why would I say anything?

someone told me there was a concern raised about me. i made a personal bet that it was 'canada', guess i won $5 off myself

off to business..

i intended no disrespect to the club, its affiliates or members when i walked to the head-to-head meeting with my (just opened) beer in hand, i just heeded a call for all drivers to meet and followed. i told Devi i was having a beer when he asked me to do the demonstration drive thru for head-to-head.
my grudge runs after (finishing the beer), was a decision taken upon myself and in retrospect was not the right decision.
i throw myself at the mercy of canada's suggestions and the CARS executive for whatever appropriate action must be taken.

btw, gunmetal grey and #74.

Good thing Canada was never around in gangsta / 2nr drag days.. used to have my cooler packed in the back every time. (Not that I promote drinking and driving / racing or anything stupid like that) remember its against the law... :drinking:

need some help understanding how cars are classed. I competed in ESP and I would like to know what qualifies my car to be in ESP. (Please note I have no probs competing in any class, jus trying to get a better understanding).

ESP car for last event were:
Honda Civic Hatch (B16 Automatic my car)
Datsun 280zx (red l28 manual)
Suzuki Swift (Pete's own, thinks is manual)
Yellow Mx3 (2000 V6 manual I believe)......this 1 confused me the most.

So any of the experienced guys care to enlighten me how are car placed? And pleeeeaaseeee note I am not questioning the officials decision jus would like to know the criteria.

Cars are classed on P:W ratio and from there get penalty points based on suspension and drivetrain modifications.

ESP P:W ratio range is from 14.0-19.9

From the last dyno day, an automatic B16A made 121whp, a hatch was weighed in at 2447lbs.

The whp is multiplied by 1.15 to get flywheel HP. 121*1.15 = 139

Weight/Power gives 17.6 approx. For the car to be under ESP it would have to be making around 106whp.

Same dyno day the MX3 came up with a PWR of 17.1, I've been in a higher class due to using race tyres even though my car is "classed" as an ES car.

In 2007 Rudman's CK2 was dynoed at 76hp at the wheel.
Wasn't weighed then though. That year was estimated at 2250 pounds.

Ok so let's see if i get this right.........
76 * 1.15 = 87.4
2250 / 87.4 = 25.7

25.7 = what class?

without checking your math, and just taking the final figure....................
qualifies for ES according to viewtopic.php?f=28&t=516462 once other conditions mentioned there don't apply.
